“Getting creatively proportioned doesn’t necessarily mean more work (i.e. layers). For spring, this maxi by Cameo (above) goes great with a long knee-length cardigan and chunky flat sandals. I love these slim-fit navy trousers from nooy by yoon. They’re ankle length and perfect for pairing with a cropped sweater and a boxy jacket. Slip on sneakers would add a cool, sporty touch to this look. After living in skinnies forever, I’m dying to try this look: Merci Crop Tee by Lovers + Friends paired with wide leg chiffon trousers by J Apostrophe. I wouldn’t normally think to style these two pieces together since they’re on opposite ends of the casual vs. dressy spectrum, but the proportions really make it work. For a meeting-ready look, add heels, a leather messenger bag or tote, and a voluminous coat.”
“This chain necklace (above) is the perfect statement piece that can turn a simple outfit into something more interesting. You can wear it with a plain black maxi dress or even a plain white collared button-up. Either way, you can’t go wrong if you add a little piece of bling. I’m also a sucker for yellow gold! I also love this ear cuff. It’s are a great accessory when you want to wear your hair back or just tucked back behind your ears. Second, I think it’s super sexy. Especially in yellow gold with a vintage-inspired crown. Lastly, this J Apostrophe tote is almost essential for my everyday looks. It’s a great size to fit all my stuff I carry around all day running around the city. It also has a great sleek shape to keep my look chic.”
“Swaying away from prints and patterns means I can keep my eye out for pieces with texture and depth. I currently am obsessed with this Funktional top (above), since it has a draped open front I can add a variety of camisole shades underneath to enhance any outfit. A good pair of leather pants never fades, so I have to say these leather pants from MinkPink are a classic piece. (After all they are named after the infamous Grease!) With my personal flair being a mix of the 50′s and 60′s, I think I can pull this look off day or night, and intermittently opt for cozy flats or chunky heels. Last but not least, I think a tasteful piece of jewelry is always key to a chic outfit. To make a statement in 2014, I’ve chosen this seasonless cuff from Citrine by the Stones. I picture this piece going with me from spring with a soft pastel cardigan and skinny jeans to summer with a chiffon tank top tucked in to a pair of high-waisted shorts. Plus, who doesn’t love making a statement with a pop of gold?”
“These Miista buckle boots (above) fit the bill perfectly. I especially love the sleek shape and cool buckle detailing, which take these shoes to a whole new level. I’ll be tucking them into a pair of skinny gray jeans. And the leather doesn’t end there: I’m also excited to try these pleated leather pants. The tapered leg is perfect for showing off a pair of heels, and the silhouette is much easier to pull off than leather leggings. Because the pants are a bit loose, I’ll be teaming them with a structured top to look more put-together. Lastly, I think this spiked suede bracelet will aid in quest to find my inner tough girl. The gold spikes are edgy — but not in a too-obvious way. I’m a fan of the mixed-metal look, so I’ll be wearing this with my favorite silver ring. I have a feeling I won’t be taking off this bracelet anytime soon.”
“I’ll be keeping my eye on accessories like this leather shoulder bag (above) and this silver bracelet, which would go great with any outfit and occasion. Also on my radar is the J Apostrophe fur coat, guaranteed to keep you warm and chic during those cold winter days and nights.”
Cheers to a bright and stylish New Year!
