Flirtatious Androgyny: Jaggar the Label
Posted: Sep 30 2014
There are plenty of reasons to love Australia, from its actor exports — see the likes of Hugh Jackman and Nicole Kidman — to its lovable koalas and picturesque landscapes. But right now, the country's sartorial splendor is what's catching our attention the most. Not only is the Australia Fashion Week scene getting hotter by the minute (with this past April's shows being no exception), but the country is also churning out some of the globe's most buzz-worthy wares. Case in point: the Aussie label, Jaggar.
Jaggar's debut collection launched less than six months ago, but it is fast becoming one of our favorites here at CH. Though the brand is just starting out, head designer Kirsty Irwin is far from a novice, having already run a chic eponymous line. "With JAGGAR, I want to close the gap between high-end fashion and easy-to-wear styles," Irwin said in a statement on the label's website. "I’ve been drawing inspiration from that classic off-duty model style. You know, that girl that can throw on her favourite old t-shirt with some leather and make it look perfectly polished. That’s what JAGGAR is about for me."
Translation? Tons of sleek, stylish clothes that can effortlessly go from the office to cocktail hour to weekend brunch. Take, for instance, the brand's leather pencil skirt. With tights and a button-up blouse, the skirt could easily work for 9-to-5, while the addition of the label's matching leather crop top makes it thoroughly party-ready. It's this cool-girl versatility that makes Jaggar perfect for the chic, on-the-go CH shopper. Another favorite aspect about the brand is that the sophisticated clothes are never too trendy, meaning they'll be guaranteed to become closet mainstays, not another fad you'll toss out in a few months time. To us, that wearability is truly priceless.
