Collective Habit x Heliely Bermudez
Posted: Nov 27 2013
Here in San Diego, we have gorgeous weather and scenic beaches a plenty. But it’s not everyday that one stumbles upon a Lookbook.nu star living in your hood – well, 15 minutes away. So how excited were we to a) discover @ishmelele on Instagram, and b) invite Heliely to shoot a lookbook with us?!
Super sweet and exceedingly humble about her status and the success of her blog –she has 14k followers on Instagram and counting– Heliely is definitely one to watch. Her ability to mix sporty, feminine, and edgy all together in a subtle and sexy, oh-so-effortless way has us totally hooked. On a perfect day last week, we adventured around downtown SD armed with her CH picks, a trunk full of shoes, and a beanie. What came after was just pure magic, with a lot of giggling. Check out the Collective Habit x Heliely lookbook below and scroll down for some Style Q&A! xx
How would you describe your personal style?
Personal style…hm…I’ve honestly never labeled myself a certain way because change seems to be a constant thing for me. I can love comfortable, laid-back, and androgynous one moment and then love knit, floral, skirts the next. It just really depends on how I feel that day.
What lipstick are you wearing in the shoot?
I am wearing a mix of Maybelline New York Ravishing Rouge and Rimmel London 12
How do you wave your hair so perfectly? We’re obsessed!
I used a curling iron, wrapped it around the iron while twisting the hair in the process. It creates a loose wave that easily make it oh-so-natural without any hairspray or other hair products.
What’s your style mantra? aka the best style advice you can give your fans?
Make sure its you. We can test new things and new styles, but I’ve always found myself realizing that sometimes it’s just not me, and what’s more beautiful on a person than when they feel most truly themselves?
What’s your favorite look from the CH shoot?
Looking at it now, all the looks had something different in them, and it shows how much of a random person I am jumping from chic, girly, sexy, casual, glamour, grunge, and you name it! But, I personally loved the look with the Lovers + Friends Catch Up Bomber Jacket, I just felt super comfortable in everything and who wouldn’t fall in love with the Finders Keepers Strange Ways Top with that jacket? Its a killer!
What’s your favorite trend for Fall/Winter 2013?
Beanies. I mean I’ve always been a beanie kind of girl anyways, but yes. Beanies and over-sized things!
Who are your favorite designers?
It’s terrible really but, I have no favorite. It probably is a shame that I’m a fashion blogger without a favorite designer. I’ve loved and admired so many pieces from so many designers but I never found myself really stuck to one. Although I have been having my heartstrings pulled when I see some of Vivian Chan’s pieces as well as Dion Lee’s.
Who’s your celebrity fashion icon?
Ahhh none! I really don’t and I’d be lying if I said I did, I don’t want too much TV to know who wears what these days. Bloggers are probably more of a celebrity icon to me, like Margaret Zhang and Nicole Warne. To meet them would be a dream!
What’s your perfect go-to/everyday look?
Over-sized coat, graphic tee, black skinny jeans, pointed flats, and a beanie.
I can’t live without my: phone, camera, laptop, lipstick, black pants (because you can wear anything with it – up or down!) and FOOD.
